Sailing Yacht and Sailing Regatta Prints

On a perfect summer day on Nantucket Island, a stroll to the docks presented an unexpected gift. Tethered to the dock was the most beautiful sailing yacht I’d ever seen. I remember thinking “My God!!! That’s the Ticonderoga! Hurry get the sketch book and camera!” Many consider Ticonderoga the crowning design achievement of L. Francis Herreshoff. He designed the 72-foot ketch Ticonderoga, launched in 1936, with flowing lines below the water and breathtaking clipper-yacht aesthetics above. “Big Ti ” as she is affectionately known, was originally designed as a fast day boat for Harry Noyes and his family but she surprised everyone with her speed and has recorded more ocean-racing victories, especially first-overall honors, than any yacht in history. Most yachting connoisseurs consider her the most beautiful ocean racer ever built, and I agree.

Our new website offers canvas prints and limited edition prints on fine art paper. If you would like to see over 20 of these dramatic sailing images on permanent display, please visit The Sea Grille at The Boston Harbor Hotel.
